Exam Overview

JEE Main is a national-level engineering entrance exam for admission into undergraduate engineering programs (B.E./B.Tech) at NITs, IIITs, and other centrally funded institutions. It also serves as the qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is required for admission to the IITs.

Marking Scheme

  • Paper 1: +4 for correct, -1 for incorrect answers

  • Paper 2: MCQs: +4/-1; Drawing Test: subjective evaluation (out of 100)

  • Unanswered questions: 0 marks

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational qualification: Passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects

  • Year of passing: Candidates must have passed in 2023, 2024, or appearing in 2025

  • Age limit: No specific age limit

  • Number of attempts: Maximum of 3 consecutive years

Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech):

  • Total Questions: 90 (75 to be attempted: 25 per subject)

Paper 2A (B.Arch):

  • Mathematics (MCQ + numerical), Aptitude (MCQ), Drawing (pen-paper test)

Paper 2B (B.Plan):

  • Mathematics (MCQ + numerical), Aptitude (MCQ), Planning questions
